We had to walk around because somehow one of the other studios caused a flood by setting off the fire alarm water sprinkler system. We drove to Mel's, after passing the street we were to turn into. The waitress comes and I asked for a chocolate soda, a very 50's dinner type of drink. She wrinkles her nose, tilts her head to the side and basically said, in a Australian accent, that she didn't know what I was talking about. So I said that it was a Coke with chocolate syrup added. Her eyes got big. "I gotta tell my kids about that!" Then Rob asked her for a Modelo beer. Again, no idea. So he asked her what kind of beer they had. He settled on a Corona. We were shooting the breeze for a while and went back to the studio. Now the flood was going through to the other studios and the fire department came by. We were glad our studio was no where near that whole mess.
Not sure if we accomplished anything much that day. Sometimes you just have to walk away from the frustration until you're ready to tackle it again. This is teaching me that things don't always happen in the timing you expected or planned. I've also learned that I'm a big jinx and I need to stop saying that we're almost done with a song. The last time I said that, it was a month before we could release it.
Can I get some chicken strips and a large glass of patience, to go?
